Why I Chose Real Estate

I’m a real estate agent for Gateway Realty Colorado in Brush, Colorado. For those of you that don’t know Brush is small town located in Northeastern Colorado about 80 miles north east of Denver. Real real estate wasn’t my first job, or even my dream job. If you had asked me 10 years ago where I would be today real estate probably wouldn’t have been on my top 5. Before real estate I did everything from waitressing, to kitchen staff at a nursing home, school nurse, to retail sales associate just to name a few. Out of all of these careers why pick real estate? Well in all honesty I didn’t pick real estate, real estate picked me. It literally all started with a phone call and a wonderful employing broker that was willing to give me a chance.

Every other job didn’t seem to stick for long because I realized to me they were just that a job. Real estate has become my passion .As a real estate agent I’m a therapist, marketing director, writer, photographer, friend, confidant, & a trusted advisor all in one. Buying a home is one of the most stressful moments of ones life second to getting married and having kids. Its a huge decision that won’t just affect you in the present but for many years to come. I have the privilege of helping people through this process. Buying or selling a home is like an emotional roller coaster that ends the day you close. From the thrill and excitement of getting an offer accepted to the fears and tears of finding out the home you fell in love with needs a new roof. The process through which perfect strangers become friends is the best part, I love meeting people from all walks of life and hearIng their stories.

Is it stressful? Yes. Is it hard? Yes . Do I really get to pick my own hours like they say? Yes, I pick which 80 hours a week I work. Is it worth it in the end? Yes. There is no better feeling than telling a first time home buyer ” Congratulations you are now a home owner”, or telling someone that was in danger of foreclosure” that because we managed to sell their home for more than they owe, they get their loan paid off and get to walk away with a little something to start over”. You see the beauty of real estate is that no two deals are alike and that’s because no two people are alike. No two people have the same dream. For some it may be buying their first home, for others it may be selling their longtime home and traveling the world. I’m just glad I get to come along for the ride and help make dreams reality, whatever that dream may be.
